I took music lessons when I was in grade school. My math teacher, Mr. Duke Payne,
played the saxophone, flute, and bagpipes. When I saw him playing all of those
instruments, it gave me pause. He inspired me to pursue a career in music.
I began teaching myself how to play the flute and bagpipes. Now I play blues on flute and
jazz on bagpipes.
I started writing, producing, and recording my own songs in 1986 on a 45 record (Hold
Me So Tight). In 1993 I produced my first CD (Get Funky With Me). I produced my
most recent CD in 2003 (Love and Alcohol Just Don't Mix).
I'm based in Chicago.
For those of you wondering who the beautiful woman in the photo with me is. She's my
sister, Ms. Mamie Rodgers.
